FBR Demonstrates Mantis™ to Samsung Heavy Industries
FBR has demonstrated the capabilities of its Mantis™ welding robot to a delegation from Samsung Heavy Industries, one of the largest shipbuilding companies in the world.
Four experts representing technical leadership in robotics, welding and production at Samsung Heavy Industries travelled from Korea to FBR’s premises in High Wycombe, Western Australia. They watched Mantis™ weld several workpieces representative of various aspects of shipbuilding.
The full workflow, end to end
Mantis™ is a DST®-powered long-reach industrial welding robot with high deposition welding capability. During the visit, the Samsung Heavy Industries team saw the complete Mantis™ workflow: programming with FBR’s own AI “Weld Creator” software, followed by part set-up, welding, and inspection of the completed welds.
A milestone for Mantis™
The visit marks the start of Mantis™ demonstrations to international prospects. FBR is looking forward to conducting many more before the first Mantis™ unit is shipped to its new owner in the United States.
